Biodiversity highlights: Area conserved – 16ha.
All vineyards are certified as organic by SGS. Natural predators are released in the vineyards to control insects. A definite fynbos character is very prominent in their wine and can be linked to the specific terroir of the estate.

The Waverley Hills Vineyards and olive groves are situated just off the R46 on the road between Tulbagh and Ceres. The farm produces two labels, i.e. Waverley Hills for the South African market and Dixon’s Peak for the export market. The vineyards are planted on the slopes of the rugged Witzenberg Mountains and are surrounded by 15 hectares of Breede shale renosterveld and Breede shale fynbos. Crystal clear waters and virgin soils pamper the vineyards. All the vineyards are certified as organic by SGS. The wine is produced from grapes grown in natural healthy conditions without the use of conventional pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Natural approved products and natural predators are released in the vineyards to control insects.

According to the reasoning provided by BWI and Wines of South Africa, the abundant biodiversity of the Cape Floral Kingdom is a clear indicator of South Africa''''s rich and diverse terroir. This same terroir is also responsible for the quality and diversity of wines produced in the Cape. A definite fynbos (garrigue-veld flower) character is very prominent in their wines and can be linked to the specific terroir of this estate.

The owners of Waverley Hills Wines believe in farming in harmony with nature and it is their goal to protect all the existing natural species of fauna and flora on the farm. All alien plant species in the conservation areas have been removed by the Working for Water Program and these areas will be follow-up on a regular basis, to keep this unique fynbos in a pristine condition.
